When it comes to affordable family holidays in France, holiday villages situated in prime beachside or rural locations are hard to beat.

Pierre Vacances has a choice of four self-catering holiday villages in stunning locations from Normandy to the South of France, all of which feature a wide range of sports and activities for all ages.

Holiday Villages are a great way of saving money – choosing a comfortable, self-catering apartment with fully equipped kitchen means you can keep an eye on costs by whipping up tasty meals in your own little home from home.

Whether you want to enjoy watersports, go mountain biking, learn archery, fencing or sailing or simply unwind on the beach, all facilities are on your doorstep and many are included in the price of your stay.

Even better, the kids’ clubs at all the holiday villages are now included within the price for holidays in 2009. Kids clubs cater for children aged 3-months to 18 years with activities and adventures tailored to each age group. Kids make new friends and have a ball, which means you can relax at no extra cost!

1.Cap Esterel
Surrounded by lush gardens and green landscapes, Cap Esterel is situated between the Esterel forest and Mediterranean Sea near Cannes.

If the thought of cooking all week is a little too much, there are also 11 restaurants on site to choose from. Each apartment also has a guaranteed view of the sea, lake, golf course or mountains, and customers can choose from an apartment or house for their stay.

Make sure you put aside some time to take part in the onsite water sports- with many being held at the on-site lake. There are also three swimming pools, a water fun area and a short stroll will take you to the beach. If you’re holidaying with young children, hop on the mini train which will take you straight there.

Keeping the kids active isn’t a problem as there are 15 tennis courts alongside volleyball, basketball and beach volley courts. For animal lovers there is also an onsite farm and play area. Teenagers who need their own space can also visit the Spot, a place to hang out, learn how to DJ, play computer games and dance.

For an extra treat, you can also pre-book a game of golf, archery lessons, a pony ride or a few spa treatments.
